Maths - Numeracy

Our Numeracy Group which was set up in 2010 is a programme delivered by a team of Maths staff supported by teaching and classroom assistants.  The pupils are split into groups and meet before school from 8.40am – 9.10am on either Monday and Tuesday or Wednesday and Thursday morning.

The pupils are engaged in active learning participating in ICT work, puzzles, games and problems.  The aim is to build confidence and promote a range of strategies in number work which the pupils can utilise in their maths classroom thus optimising their opportunities for progress.

The pupils’ achievement is monitored and measured throughout to ensure progress is made in key areas of Numeracy.  This achievement is then recognised with a system of rewards throughout the year.
